Jim Bodie Named Vice President of Service at CFBT

Buffalo, NY – Copier Fax Business Technologies is pleased to announce that Director of Service, Jim Bodie has been named Vice President of Service, after over 30 years working for the company.  Jim’s responsibilities will fall in line with the incredible work he has been doing in leading the company’s service department, while also expanding his leadership to overall company operations.

Jim joined Copier Fax Business Technologies in 1992, just a little over a year into the founding of the company in 1990 by Andrea and Al Scibetta.  During his time with the company, he oversaw his team adapting to astronomical technology changes in the industry, especially since businesses in 1991 didn’t even have the internet, let alone the cloud-based digitized technology in today’s devices.

In addition to the everchanging technology, he also was part of revolutionary growth, having started as one of three employees, and now the company works as a multi-million-dollar operation with over 30 employees.

The service team that Jim oversees has been acknowledged as one of the best in the industry.  For 14 straight years, Copier Fax has been recognized as a Konica Minolta Pro-Tech Service Provider.    Very few companies have achieved this level of recognition 14 straight times. Konica Minolta exhaustively evaluates dealers to find those with the very highest level of technical expertise, personalized service, and customer satisfaction.  Additionally, his service team members have accumulated over 30 Silver Seal awards throughout the company’s history, which are granted for excellence in their training, and are only awarded to the top 15% of Konica Minolta technicians in the entire country.

Jim’s Award-Winning Service team has earned him great respect in the office technology industry.  He is a frequent speaker at dealer conferences, conventions, and industry buying groups. He has also held several boards of director positions from various industry organizations as well.

“We’re honored to have Jim as part of this company, especially for over 30 years,” says Copier Fax Business Technologies President, David Scibetta.  “His leadership and expertise have undoubtedly played a key role in the company’s growth and prosperity.”

The promotion comes after the passing of company co-founder, Al Scibetta in January 2022.  It was Al that hired Jim and leaned on his leadership for the service department.

“He understands the dynamic and tone of this family-owned business like no other,” says David Scibetta.” It’s great working with someone that knows and respects the standards established by my Dad.”

Jim is a graduate of Bryant & Stratton College and is a proud Veteran of the United States Coast Guard.

Passing of Al Scibetta

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Copier Fax Business Technologies President, Al Scibetta.  Al passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2022 after a brief illness.

Al co-founded Copier Fax Business Technologies with his wife, Andrea Scibetta in 1990 as a Konica Minolta dealer.  Over the past 30 years, the company has grown to over 32 employees and has evolved as one of the top office technology providers in the region.

Al was an icon in the office technology industry.  He was a frequent guest speaker and presenter at Select Dealer Group conferences, Konica Minolta conferences, and other related panels across the country.  Additionally, under Al’s leadership, Copier Fax was named a Konica Minolta Dealer Award of Excellence and received several local recognitions for business growth, Best Places to Work, and ranking as one of Buffalo’s Top Private Companies.

Al is known for his philanthropic work in the WNY Community.  This includes years of support for Summit Education Center, Buffalo Hospice, Roswell Park, and Child & Family Services of WNY.

He also served for several years as a Cardinal O’Hara Board of Directors.

Since 1997, Al’s son David Scibetta joined Copier Fax Business Technologies as a partner.  Together, with Andrea the company grew to the full-service technology partner it is known as today.

Al had very strong relationships with his employees, industry colleagues, and clients, many of whom he considered his friends.  He made every person he met feel welcomed, and always loved to share a good laugh.

Al was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres but was especially known for his love of the New York Yankees.  He also had a great love for Italian cooking and was famous for his homemade pizzas from scratch.

He also loved our country, having served in the United States Army, and was passionate about the success and well-being of all levels of government.

From all the great accomplishments and adventures in life, his family was the root of his happiness.  Al leaves his business partner, travel companion, and beloved wife of 27 years, Andrea.  He also leaves his children, David (Heather), Paul (Krissy), Angela, Anthony (Jessica), and George as well as 11 grandchildren (and one on the way).  He was a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend to many people.

A celebration of Al’s life will be held later this year.

CFBT Recognized with COVID-19 Leadership and Community Engagement Award

COVID-19 has taught us all to expect the unexpected.  It also taught us to be prepared – should we have to work remotely again while practicing healthy measures inside the workplace to stay safe.

Copier Fax Business Technologies was honored by the Tonawanda Chamber of Commerce with the Covid-19 Leadership and Community Engagement Award in honor of our efforts in helping businesses throughout WNY use technology to help navigate the challenges from COVID-19.The chamber decided to “recognize one chamber member who, during the pandemic, demonstrated an exemplary level of leadership and community engagement.  This recognition includes assistance with the needs of the community and servicing the needs of customers and employees.”

Near the beginning of the pandemic, Copier Fax quickly recognized that technology was going to play a key role in allowing businesses to carry on.  It started with helping businesses work remotely, while still maintaining full access to their office documents, and maintaining productivity despite the fact that the physical office was closed.

From there, the services and technology offerings were quickly expanded to include devices that allow contact-less checking and deliveries, temperature scans, and even cameras that can detect if a visitor is wearing a face covering. From corporate offices to health care centers, such as nursing homes, to schools, municipalities, and even the KeyBank Center, Copier Fax was able to work with each business to customize a program using technology to keep everyone open, and more importantly, safe.

“A lot of the systems and technology that was put in place seems to be permanent for most of these businesses,” says David Scibetta, EVP/CIO of Copier Fax Business Technologies.  “Health benefits aside, the technology has dramatically helped businesses improve their workflow and efficiency.”

Although many businesses are open, it is still uncertain when someone will need to work from home – even if it is temporary.  Copier Fax allowed this option to continue on seamlessly.

The award was presented at a special dinner on November 3rd, 2021, which included several recognitions from dignitaries at all levels of government in New York State.  Accepting the award was CFBT’s Regional Sales Manager, Dave DeMizio.
